Enjoying a genuine Irish coffee in Dublin city – It’s one of those bucket list, must-do things. But where can you get a really, really good one? One that tastes completely different to any other Irish coffee you’ve ever tasted?
Well, here are seven of our favourite Irish coffees from around the city:
1. Inn on the Green
This one is easy to get to – it’s in the lobby of the hotel. Our Inn on the Green is like a local bar, a melting pot of the great and the good of Dublin who mingle easily with our guests while our bar team makes you an Irish coffee you’ll want to write home about. You can book a booth or peruse the extraordinary cocktail menu.
2. Bailey Bar
The famous Bailey Bar is just down Grafton Street from the hotel and is a gorgeous, stylish, landmark bar serving great food, cold beer, creamy pints of Guinness and flipping good Irish coffees. A highly recommended stop on your walkabout.
3. Café en Seine
One of the biggest and most popular bars in Ireland, Café en Seine is worth a visit whatever you’re having to drink. It’s like a living museum/art gallery/railway station/cabaret, filled with lavish decoration and lots of different bars and floors and massive ferns and ornate mirrors and lighting. Oh and a fine Irish coffee of course.
4. The Brazen Head
The oldest bar in Ireland has been looking after weary travellers and thirsty guests since 1198 – just to put it in context, that’s about the time of the crusades. Today the staff at The Brazen Head still know a thing or two about keeping customers happy, including making a really good Irish coffee.
5. Vice Coffee
A relative newcomer, Vice Coffee is a multi-roaster coffee bar on the other side of the city on Abbey Street. There they make extraordinary coffee and with a little extra effort, turn it into a simply wonderful Irish coffee. Check them out.
6. The Stage Door Café
In Temple Bar you’ll find a little gem called The Stage Door Café. It’s one of those places you’d never try unless someone recommended it to you and that’s what we’re doing right here. Go and eat, or just go and have one of the best Irish coffees we’ve ever tasted.
7. The Long Hall
Ah this place is an institution and somewhere we often recommend to visitors. The Long Hall is a gorgeous Victorian pub, long and straight, with dark wood, bright brass and filigree edged mirrors, no TVs, lots of locals and a superb Irish coffee it one of the best old pubs in Dublin.
