Dublin Transport

Dublin is pretty well served with public transport. We don’t have an underground – yet – but we do have lots of trams, busses, taxis, bicycles and rickshaws which make getting around Dublin pretty easy.

Luas

The Luas is our tram service (“Luas” means speed in Irish) and there are two lines. The Green Line stops right outside the hotel and will take you north to south, passing Trinity College, O’Connell Street, Dundrum Town Centre shopping and Sandyford on the way. It also connects with the Red Line which takes you from the docklands and the 3Arena in the east to the west of the city.

DART & Rail

The DART is the Dublin Area Rapid Train and runs along Dublin Bay from Greystones in the south to Howth in the north – it’s a brilliant service. There are trains coming into Dublin from all over the country. Connolly Station (you can get there on the Green Line Luas) will take you north to Belfast or south to Rosslare. Heuston Station will take you south or west to Cork, Limerick or Galway.

Dublin Bus

There are buses going everywhere in the city and there are journey planner apps you can download to your phone. The most economical way to travel on the bus is to get a Leap Card from any newsagent (there’s one on your left as you come out of the hotel). The card coves you on busses, the Luas and the DART.

Taxis

Taxis in Dublin can use the bus lanes and so aren’t really affected badly by rush hour traffic. There’s a huge taxi rank just outside the hotel so finding one is easy and you’ll have the added advantage of hearing a long-winded story on your journey from the usually chatty driver.

Airport

There is no rail link to the airport yet but there are buses every few minutes. The Aircoach is probably the best of them but there are lots of other private operators too. It’s cheap but you can also get a cab and the rank at the airport is very well run.
