Things to do in Dublin in February

Dublin/ 1 February 2019
Back to list

Ok, yes, sometimes it can get a little chilly in Dublin in February (as it can nearly everywhere). We call it “fresh” but there are still lots of things to see and do in our wonderful city. Here’s seven of the best:

CHINESE NEW YEAR

Dublin has always embraced the Chinese New Year and this year, 2019, is the Chinese Year Of The Pig. There are events all over the city from February 1st to the 17th so check out the programme here and book the events that tickle your fancy.

RUGBY

The world’s biggest and best rugby championship starts on February 2nd and our first match is against The Old Enemy, England. Well maybe not an enemy any more but we would certainly rather beat them than lose to them. The Six Nations is fought between us, England, France, Wales, Scotland and Italy. Ireland are, quite rightly, the reigning champions. Here’s the schedule.

DUBLIN RACING FESTIVAL AT LEOPARDSTOWN

Leopardstown Racecourse is one of the world’s top horse racing venues and the Dublin Racing Festival is an incredible two days of the finest jump racing on February 2nd and 3rd. The really good news is that it’s only 15 minutes from the hotel door by tram. Tickets here.

ST VALENTINE’S DAY

When did Dublin become so romantic? Well parts of St Valentine are buried here in the city and if that doesn’t turn you off, there are offers and deals here in the hotel, Inn On The Green, Glovers Alley and in bars, pubs and restaurants all over the city. For more, click here.

ENNIO MORRICONE

Can you believe this legend is coming to Dublin? He will be here for one night – February 15th – where he will conduct his film music live at the 3Arena. Tickets are here.

VIRGIN MEDIA DUBLIN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

The annual Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival takes place all over the city from 20th February. see the full programme and book your tickets to this wonderful event here.

MATTHEW BOURNE’S SWAN LAKE

This is a contemporary take on Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre from Tuesday 26th February. This is a production you simply can’t miss – it’s won over 30 major international awards so far, including an Olivier Award and three Tony Awards on Broadway. Get your tickets here.

If you can’t find something you’d like to see from that list, see a doctor. Don’t forget. to keep up with what’s happening in our city just follow us on Facebook.
