Location
We’re right at the beginning of Grafton Street, the city’s main shopping avenue, on St. Stephen’s Green, the main square. This really is the finest location for a hotel in Dublin city centre. Everything you could want – Dublin’s best shops, restaurants, theatres, bars, museums and galleries – are all within a short stroll. Or a quick cycle or taxi or tram or bus or rickshaw or pony and trap jaunt away.
Parking
The Fitzwilliam Hotel has the most central location but it’s also got a secure underground car park. Access is from the back of the hotel on Mercer Street Lower and we also have a valet parking service which you can use from the front of the hotel.
Find everything you need to know on our car parking page.
Luas Tram
Right outside the front door of the hotel is the LUAS tram service. This has just been extended with a new bit (still called the Green Line) going north of us so, in about two minutes, you can be at Trinity College and the Book of Kells. In five you can be at O’Connell Bridge and change for the Red Line which will take you east down the river to the International Financial Services Centre and 3Arena. Or west to Collins Barracks, Heuston Station and Tallaght. In seven you can be at the Abbey Theatre and all the way to Broombridge.
If you travel the other direction, south, from the hotel you’ll reach Ireland’s largest shopping centre, Dundrum Town Centre, in about 15 minutes. Another 5 minutes from there is the business and residential centres of Sandyford and Stillorgan. One minute from there is the world famous racecourse at Leopardstown or you can go all the way to Cherrywood and Brides Glen. Have a look at the Luas map.
