Recognised as a project which nurtures a strong connection among the community, the festival is strongly supported by locals.

Now in it’s 58th year, Dublin Theatre Festival has stomped it’s footprint all over the capital with performances in famous venues including the iconic Gaiety Theatre. Take a look at the full schedule of events here.

Dancing at Lughnasa

Brian Friel brings Dancing at Lughnasa to the stage for a special 25th anniversary production at the Gaiety Theatre this October.

The plot follows Michael who recalls a summer of his childhood in Ballybeg, where his aunts, the five Mundy sisters, raised him in their crumbling, rural home and where once they danced. A wild, raucous dance. Dancing at Lughnasa is a play about the dream-wild dance of our memories – one of the greatest plays ever written.

This eagerly anticipated new production of Brian Friel’s masterpiece from the Lyric Theatre Belfast, directed by award-winner Annabelle Comyn, will mark the 25th anniversary of the play’s premiere in Dublin as part of Dublin Theatre Festival 2015. Winner of an Olivier Award and a Tony Award, Dancing at Lughnasa is one of the most acclaimed and loved Irish plays of recent times.
